Metkel Merhawi Yosief is pursuing a PhD at the CPM under Prof. Dr. Andreas Lienhard since July 2021 as part of the interdisciplinary research project "Factors of Good Lawmaking", which is funded by the Stiftung für schweizerische Rechtspflege. His dissertation focuses on the influencing factors in the pre-parliamentary legislative process in Switzerland.
In addition to a law degree (MLaw), he also holds a Master of Arts in Political, Legal and Economic Philosophy (MA PLEP). After his law studies, he worked at the Eritrean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and subsequently in Senegal at the Swiss Embassy in Dakar. In Switzerland, he worked as an interpreter for the State Secretariat for Migration and as a jurist at the Ombudsman's Office and Data Protection Supervisory Office of the City of Bern and the Federal Office of Public Health.
